About Coach Jonah

Greetings! I bring a rich soccer journey spanning both player and coaching roles. My journey began as a player, earning a place in Iowa's Olympic Development team, achieving the state's first United States Olympic Development National Championship and competing internationally against clubs in Brazil and Italy. This propelled me to the Region II United States Olympic Development Team, securing yet another National Championship.

As a high school player at ADM/Van Meter, I captained for three years, earned three All-State Selections, and became the all-time leading scorer. My dedication earned me a scholarship to Drake University, Iowa's sole Division I soccer program, followed by transferring to Wartburg College where I contributed to a Sweet Sixteen Division III NCAA Tournament appearance. This path led me to a year as a Student Assistant Soccer Coach at Wartburg and a role as the Assistant Soccer Coach at Waverly-Shell Rock High School Boys' team.

My journey then took me to Colorado, where I established a junior high soccer program at Banning Lewis Prep, achieving championship finals. I further honed my skills coaching the Colorado College Women’s Club Soccer Program, competing against collegiate clubs nationally.

Returning to Iowa three years ago, I embraced my passion as a Special Ed Teacher at Van Meter Elementary. I also became the head coach for Van Meter High School, starting the boys' soccer program,  Our growth has been remarkable. In just the 4th year of the program, Van Meter is 2nd in the State of Iowa.

Soccer isn't just a game to me; it's a conduit for growth, resilience, and excellence on and off the field. Join me on this incredible journey of hard work, development, and achievement.
